religinis fundamentalizmas statusas T sritis Politika apibrėžtis Religinio autoriteto skelbimas visuotiniu ir absoliučiu, reikalavimas, kad tikėjimo ir etikos dalykai būtų priimami tiesiogiai ir teisiškai institucionalizuoti. Religiniai fundamentalistai skelbia vienos absoliučios ir nekintamos (apreikštos) tiesos idėją ir reikalauja ją įgyvendinti. Būdingas visoms istorinėms religinėms tradicijoms. Jis yra reakcija į modernybės sąlygotus individualizmo, atomizacijos ir sekuliarizacijos procesus. Religiniai fundamentalistai pasigenda religinių tiesų laikymosi ir asmeniniame, ir socialiniame gyvenime. Iš prigimties konfrontacinis – fundamentalistai priešina savo teigiamą teisumą tariamam daugumos neteisumui ir siekia, kad būtų pripažintos jų skelbiamos tiesos. Terminas pradėtas vartoti 20 a. pr. JAV, apibūdinant kraštutines protestantų grupes. Po 20 a. 8 dešimtmečio (ypač po Irano islamo revoliucijos 1979) veik išimtinai taikomas islamo kraštams. Musulmonų fundamentalizmas siejamas daugiau su islamo kraštų politiniais procesais nei su tikėjimo, doktrinos, dogmos ar etikos dalykais.
